The Sugar Shoppe all started with a stay-at-home mom's desire to make her little boy a birthday cake. She enrolled in a cake decorating class and, after hours of painstaking care and detail, she succeeded in her quest. As the years went by, she discovered that not only did she enjoy making and decorating cakes, but it came easily to her and a true giftedness was found in what was an ability to make the best tasting, and most beautifully decorated birthday, anniversary, and wedding cakes.

Nearly 15 years later would find Linda Bryant making cakes in her new business, The Sugar Shoppe. After teaching pre-school for nearly a decade and making cakes and candy on the side, Linda began to dream of owning her own business. What she desired was to have a full-service cake and candy supply shop, one that would allow her the opportunity to continue making cakes as well as interact with and teach others her craft. She saw a need for such a business that would offer a wide array of products at low prices to serve the community. So, in September of 1992, this dream became a reality as The Sugar Shoppe opened its doors for business in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
